I didn't do an Alice page today. But I did do a pictre of Yuber putting on gloves. Inked and scanned it in. Tried colouring in Photoshop for the first time. Took me awhile, but it turned out okay, I suppose. =^^= YUBER~SAMA~!!

Head hurts. Oh, damndamndamndamn it all. Must have been the walking around and the weird food I had yesterday. (Anything chocolate, fried, or tastes like liquor doesn't agree with me. Ever.) Totally exhausted, so fell asleep on my side and didn't toss or turn. Obvious from the massive pain that is crawling up my right shoulder to my neck I woke up with this morning. And now, it still hurts. I wish my dad were here. Or anyone with blunt nails who can put up with my wailing while they knead out the knots. Forcefully. Must be forceful, or it's no use. I'm going to sprain my left arm at the rate I'm going. Going to make nice, big pot of green tea and force it down to take away the lump in my throat. And later I have to bring my brother to the library. *groans*

Alex doesn't get hangovers after big outings. No... she just gets neckaches, headaches, sore throats and all the happy happy syntoms of a flu. There's healthy constitution for you.

Went out today. Oogled the fantasy section at the rental bookstore (Strands of Sunlight! The Spellsong Cycle! A Song of Ice and Fire! *anguished wail*). Was forced to eat lunch. XD Walked around Suntec somemore, before taking the train to Orchard. Hung around Kino, complained about the lack of funds. Full Moon wo Sagashite is out in the Taiwanese version up to book 3! And it's only $6.71 a book! (Will be more expensive at Ginza. Must go tell Auntie. -.-) Too bad I can't read Japanese, or I'd have wailed even louder over the Pita Ten volumes (5 books ahead of the Taiwanese publishers!) and the Asuka issues. (DNAngel~ Dark~san!!) >< Bought Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, anyway. Finally, my own copy. ^-^v Research time! Wanted the pretty, pale, hardcover version, but it was $30. ;_; And it didn't have Through the Looking-Glass either, so yeah...

School starts next Monday. *mutters* Well, it'd beat going out and spending money aimlessly every week. Feel terribly guilty. And tomorrow I have to bring my brother to the library and eat lunch out. Again. When did I become such a spendthrift? o.O *remembers how she never went out more than once a month last year*

I'm turning into a Suikoden fan. Love the music, adore the guys, hearthearheart Yuber to death. And I can sing Currents! XD Now, all I have to do is actually play the game. PS2~ Where for art thou PS2~?!

Fingers going faster than brain... o.O Maybe it's time to retire to bed, before I start puncuating my sentences with random exclaimation marks!! Oh wait!!! I am!!!!!!!!! *dies*

Of cool beauty
cares for its looks and condition
good taste
tends to egoism
makes life as comfortable as possible
leads reasonable disciplined life
looks for kindness an emotional partner and acknowledgment
dreams of unusual lovers
is seldom happy with her feelings
mistrusts most people
is never sure of its decisions
very conscientious.

Hmmm... mostly accurate. Except the first point XD What about you?

Anyway, as most of you all know, the 'Alice' comic I'm working on has hijaked my brain and is taking over my life. (Or what's left of it.) ^^; I hope to have the first act up, along with some side notes before the holidays end, so please excuse the lack of blog updates. =^^=

Tsubaki~! Your Yuber/Albert PWP is going to take a while. ^^;; I suppose we'll have to stop by Starbucks to get your prize first. XD

Went out with my family today. Did some shopping for the first time in ages - I hate buying clothes. (I wear my mother's clothes mostly.) Bought a black (faux?) leather skirt from BritishIndia. BritishIndia is one of the few brands I like; everything there is basic and practical, and the materials are good. Pity that it's usually out of my budget. The skirt was originally $99 but they're having a closing-down sale, so I bought mine at $9. Yes, folks, that's $90 less. Probably the best discount I've ever gotten. (Even though my dad says $9 is too much for a 'piece of plastic'.) There was a white cotton dress going for $13, but I didn't bring my pay out... so yeah, maybe next time.

---

I've lost the taste for angst, but melodrama's always on my tongue. It's easy to tell others 'even best intentions go wrong', but it's hard to believe your own will.

I hope what I did was right.

Guess what? I'm Kakei!

I’m the homeless moody bishie who shares an apartment with the jerk (who saved my life) above the drugstore where I work. When I’m not being groped by my boss’s boyfriend, I take on supernatural side jobs by aid of my acute psychometric abilities for extra cash.

Find out with GD bishie you are | by Aelice

Tomorrow is the photoshoot. *excited* Mother has agreed to do my makeup. I doubt makeup will be enough to 'save' my face, though. XD

Watching Wolf's Rain. Finally, after all the hype circulating on the blogs. It's not bad. Tsume's got really nice angles. My dad (who watched it with me) figures I should stop oogling 'prettyboys' (read: those lanky 'wimps') and go for guys like Tsume. (Though, I reckon if I did, he'd probably ground me till I'm thirty.) Low-slung leather pants. Oooo... But it's Kiba that I like. Yeah... the toussled hair, the rolled up jacket sleeves. It's such a simple but nice outfit. Why don't more guys dress like that? Instead of wearing those godawful oversized t-shirts and bermudas that look like they're ready to fall off any minute. Talk about bad taste. My dad mistook Toboe for a girl, and the whole 'let's grovel in front of Leara' thing freaked him out, until I told him that the younger boys are usually depicted in a rather... effeminate way. (Go figure.) Story is coming along quite nicely, but it's Yoko Kanno, and she's always good.

Have given up on Gundam Seed though. @_@ I just can't appreciate mechas the way most of my friends do. I mean, I admire the designs and the figurines, but all the thrill of watching them fight is lost on me. Guess it's a 'shounen' thing...

Spent most of yesterday practicing sketching Albert. Not much luck. Yuber turned out slightly better, but I gave him a turtleneck instead of his usual jacket. (Albert - Yuber clothes switch?) I still need to capture his demonic air without making him look like Muraki, though. -.-;;

This beats Utena in genki-ness and is definetely more blinding. But how can anyone resist those Funky Retro Glasses? And the lure of Dark's damn-I'm-sexy smirk? Huh? Tell me! How can you?!

XD Anyway, feeling muchly perky. Ranted and destressed. Mmm... Downloaded lots of songs today. Sting's Desert Rose is beautiful. A definete must-listen. Am rather pleased with Evanescence, enough anger and sorrow fuelling their songs to make them noticed, but never straying too far from being radio-friendly. Good packaging and branding, too. Alt-rock is good, indeed.

Been a long day in front of the computer. Think I'll go burn the songs on a CD and play them on my stereo. Maybe catch up on The Faerie Queen before bed. ^-^

Got back my report card today. @|| PH3AR M3!! I passed every damn subject down to CME (an A at that). Pfffftt... now to show the parents the results...

Watched Michelle play Sukioden III at Tsu's house. Am going to fixtate on Yuber muchly now. Oh, yummy blond demon with a taste for blood and dying screams, oozing lots and lots of sexiness. And I want to braid that hair. Gods...

Have my Cosfest costume ready. It's a pheasant blouse and a matching poofy skirt. Country-style Chii! Now, let's watch the fanboys run away screaming in horror. *watches stampede in amusement*

Still don't know exactly what to do for the photoshoot. Sumeragi Hokuto, Kurosaki Hisoka or random shoujo heroine? Hmph.

Made a Utena layout to cheer myself up today. Very... pink. It's not up yet, because I've yet to pass the Agent Smith layout codes to Rika. She might be taking over this layout. *grins*

Clipping nails is oddly relaxing. I cut and filed mine short again, good old practical blunt nails. Practically no more whites showing. Journaled, drew, inked, coloured, generally feeling much better. Tomorrow, I'll be hopping over to Rachel's place. =^-^= I've pretty much accepted the fact that my midyear results are awful compared to the first term report card, so yeah... *shrug*

I love Megatokyo, the art and the story are so sweet. I'm at the part where Piro and Yuki's story starts going somewhere. Having fun catching all the anime references - Misha bunny hair-ties! Ahhh! (I want.) Only... 200+ more strips to go before I finally catch up. But I don't mind, it's a lovely comic.

Drowsy... think I'll go tweak the Utena layout a bit more and get some sleep.

Look everyone, my eyes are still intact. *points and grins*

Kazoku outing yesterday. So fun~! Apparently, I'm now Skye's dragoon knight (a pretty useless one at that - got called a Beyblade XD). Saw pretty organza and really soft netting at People's Park. Stopped by Tiong Bahru Plaza one the way back and bought the Matrix VCD and mother-of-pearl nail polish (old one is drying up and congealing). Watched the Matrix again, gawked over Neo, squealed over Agents, convinced my mother that I have 'no taste'.

Me: Hugo Weaving~! *points and flaps* Ma, that one over there~
Her: Huh?
Me: Cute or not?
Her: Oh my god. I think Keanu looks better that him. (Mom is a big Neo fan)
Me: His eyes~ Look at his eyes~ *Smith has taken off his dark glasses* /Intense/.
Her: Okay, lah. *considers* But he's so old. And he's balding.
Me: I don't care! And he's not balding! All the Agents have high foreheads! *hmph*
Her: *to brother* Your sister has no taste.
Brother: Neo's cool~
Me: *is back to watching Agent Smith and is too engrossed to care*

Killing time before I leave to meet Bernadette and the rest of the kazoku later. Heh.

I just had my Essential New Town Experience today. You know, the ones where a random person comes up to say they hate you so much and don't lie I saw you looking at me funny you're dead when I get my hands on you thing. Yeah. Only, I had a reason for looking out for my friends (yeah and I was 'staring' at you because you were in my field of vision, you idiot). And god, was she ugly, with the stringy messy ponytail and a metre's worth of hair ties bunched up along her arm that is the look of the moment for the Normal stream 'badass'. Although, the fact that she's one head shorter than me, and is a year younger, sort of ruins the image. I have absolutely no respect for people who threaten to 'make your eyes fall out', once you switch to English to defend yourself. -.-;; Say 'gouge' and maybe I'll play along. Outside the prefectorial board room, no less. Some people just never learn.

Making a new layout, and yes, yes, it is Matrix-related. So sue me. XD Will be up probably by tomorrow.

I am in love with a new song. Very Neo/Trinity, with shades of Revolutions foreshadowing. 'When the World Ends' is the last song that played while the Reloaded credits roll, just before the Revolutions trailer started. Surprised that it's by the Dave Mattew's Band. "I'm gonna rock you like a baby when the cities fall..." Same smoky voice, no doubt, but Oakenfield remix didn't register in my head.

And you know I was going to say this anyway, but: Ignore the stupid Singapore newpaper reviews ranting about the symbology and references and the Architech's speech (that they can't understand) and just go watch it! (That is, if you haven't already.) Seriously, either the CG or the actors (fighting or - Hugo Weaving! *wipes drool away* - otherwise) will crumble your three-star-review-enforced prejudice. And I still want to have Neo's babies. *laughs*

It's Easter today, I just realised. The mystery of the resurrection of Christ, on the third day of the greatest blood sacrifice. Redemption of sinners, the gates of heaven opened. The idea of new life embodied in eggs and spring.

Finished reading Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Hilarious. Ah, mice. And who would ever forget the immortal answer? ("It's forty-two, Miss Tan, really. I just forgot the question.)

My Biology Ex. 3 is still missing. To whom it may concern:

School has been crazy, what with extended hours and Saturdays classes and all. I'll only be blogging on weekends from now on.

Did twenty laps continuously today. Came home and nearly collapsed in the shower. I'm so out of practice.

Bought the Cowboy Bebop movie VCD. Electra rocks! Going do her for the movie opening and probably Cosfest as well (that is, if I can make it).

You know what's sad? When your classmates are so deprived, they need to listen in on your conversations. On homework. And try to act cool, flicking their pens and glancing out of the window when they're obviously falling off their goddamn seats trying to lean across the aisle. Please, if you need to assert your right to 'know all and see all' as a 'popular person', there are more subtle ways to go about it. And wash your hair while you're at it, because I clearly see dandruff flakes. If you aren't proud of curly hair, then rebond it, don't gel it for crying out loud.

By the way, Adelpha, I didn't touch anything other than A Maths. The BIA can send us to DC if she wants. Do I look as if I care?

Obsessing over Remy Zero's 'Save Me' (aka Smallville Theme). The extended version is fantastic. It doesn't hurt that the singer looks a little like Lex Luthor. You can download the MP3 from RemyZero.com. Have to buy 'The Golden Hum' tomorrow. And Live's 'Birds of Pray' is coming out on May 19th! (I think I've finally gotten used to the idea that the lead vocals jumped up an octave or two. Still, I long for 'Run to the Water' vocals again.)

I feel my wings have broken in your hands
I feel the words unspoken inside
When they pull you under
And I would give you anything you want
You were all I wanted
All my dreams are falling down
Crawling round and round and round...

Imagine slit eyes watching you from the trees, lips parting in a chesire grin. Green like the shimmer at the edge of cut glass, pupils never staying still. Cat-eyed one minute, human next. Laughing, always laughing, low and soft and full of black humour.

For a voice like fingers trailing along your spine, like chattering teeth against your ear. Ghost-whispers, going round and round in riddles, buring a circular trail in the curve of your mind.

You can't tame it, you can't love it, because both would entail you to understand it, and you never will.

(Give me your loss and your sorrow and the squandered first times and the stolen moments and your absence of faith.)

(No~ooo... ;_;) Resigned myself to console games. On the third try on Capcom Vs. SNK, put in two coins and choose 2P mode, just for the heck of it. Reading the Wryd Sisters. (I've never really bothered to follow the books in chronological order.) Terry Pratchett seems to enjoy twisting references, writing satires, if they can be called that. Wryd Sisters is very obliviously Macbeth gone wrong. So is Soul Music (rock and roll and Elvis Presley), Hogfather (Christmas and the history of Santa Claus) and Moving Pictures (Hollywood), to name a few off the top of my head. Interesting, no doubt.

Spent five hours on Monday [painstakingly] sketching and inking this picture, using my Count Caine 9 as reference. Overall, I'm quite proud of the likeness. Lightened his hair (it looks like Riff's now) and omitted the rifle leaning against the armchair. There's no real point in stealing it, since you're better off with the Kaori Yuki original (note lack of pretentious signature).

It don't think it's possible to sell prints of fanart, however, if anyone's interested I will be making copies of this particular one and a Sakurazuka Seishirou picture for Cosfest. You just have to cover the printing cost. To order A4 or poster-size copies, you can drop me an e-mail or tag the board. ^-^

Bought Serial Experiments Lain yesterday. Watched Layers 1 and 2. It's... slow. But still, rather promising.

Made a Gaiden layout. Too tired to upload it. I'll give Sephy one more week.

So, once again, I'm back to doing Yaone for Cosfest. Help? Sewing machine, anyone? It took me one week to sew Faye's vest by hand so... I don't want to imagine how long Yaone's will take.

Social blog:

Lili: That makes two of us. I'm not going for Kohaku this year either. ^^;; Don't have time to attend rehersals.

lachrymosea: Me? Record? Um, no. Don't have a microphone, sadly.

Toraneko: S'okay. *grin*

Lamp: I know 'Roy' is a perfect 10. Heh. My own name has a battle rating of 4. XD

mari: Hey... haven't heard from you in awhile. Call me whenever you're free, alright?

tiffany: Darn time zones. Hopefully I'll catch you in the evening, or some other more... godly hour. ^-^

If you're not going to purchase anything, then don't go all Funan-Mall-excursion happy on me, don't bring home a pile of adverts, don't ask me to analyse specifications; just because I can't tell you whether USB 1.1 ports are compatible with our accessories, don't blame me for not keeping up with technology because we're seven fucking years behind and you don't have the money to back me up. Every single time this happens, we argue, and by now you should know I hate being lead on, so leave the fucking computer alone, okay? It's working just fine.

I have a better quality version of 'Closer' now. See, I can even crank it up loud and my speakers don't go staticky on me. Yay! My voice seems to have... shifted to a lower range. Basically, I can hit the notes for The Real Folk Blues and Velvet Underworld. So it's bye-bye Hikari and hello Weiss songs. This is made even more disconterting by the fact that Rika's range has shifted up and now she's hitting 1000 no Kotoba. @_@

Armageddon, defined by my pocket Oxford dictionary, is the supreme battle at the end of the world. Ran a search on Encyclopedia Mythica, came up with some verses from Revelations (when will we ever get away from that?) about a battlefield. Taking into account Norse mythology (of course, I might be wrong. It's been a few years since that documentary), it's actually quite accurate. I don't know when it started to be used as definition for the end of the world as we know it. Then there's the term 'apocalypse', which is rather iffy too. On the whole, interchangable, and slightly frustrating.

Eight more days of house arrest. Time to start drawing up a storyline for the multi-chaptered Bebop fic.

Tell me my brother was lying when he said schools are closed until April 21st. PLEASE LET IT NOT BE TRUE. (Failing that, David, please get a hold of my YnM VCDs ASAP.)

*headacheheadache*

Bernadette, Tsubaki, the two of you, please calm down. I've been trying to sympathise as much as possible, however, I am not taking sides. Just... try to settle this as sensibly as possible, with minimal name-calling and finger-pointing, alright? I can only offer so much advice. The only way for this to be solved is if the both of you listen to each other and not get defensive. Okay? This doesn't make me care less for either of you. This just make me a rather cranky, worried Alex.

Waiting for Smallville to start. Rika's right, it really feels like we're under house arrest. Argh. Once school starts, I'm going to hunt down the Yami no Matsuei VCD boxset, and buy a huge bag of chocolate-chip cookies and vanilla ice-cream. Five days of searching the fridge and pantry and not a single a unhealthy snack in sight! o.O Toast and tea gets boring really fast. I'm going to make caramel pears, to hell with my braces. >.<

On a happier note, tomorrow seems to be a much more productive day. There's tuition in the morning and more worksheet marking after lunch. Joy! Less idling! More co-ordinate geometry and furious grading.

And have you all seen this?

Shirou Kamui

Sepiroth's sexy. Admit it. Who else can pull off strappy black leather like he does? And the hair and the feathers and the sword. OoooOooOOo... *hastily wipes drool off keyboard*

Anyway, dead tired. Spent two hours on this layout. (I abused the Overlay effect in Photoshop something fierce, huh?) Added Eric's link and tried out CSS absolute position. It should work in 800x600, but it's probably terrible in other resolutions. Tsubaki, how does it look on yours?

Another two hours of worksheet marking. o.O Table too low. Neck keeps cramping up. Need to talk to her about this.

Since I filled up most of my shameless plugging quota yesterday, I'll make today's one short: fanfic site. new layout. magic cards rawk. *cough* Alright, that was uncalled for.

Playing around with Cowboy Bebop fic ideas. Look! I have a title! A sequel! A half-baked plot! Now all I need is Spike to co-operate!

Spike: Too bad. I enjoy being difficult and sounding like a total jerk when you put me down in words.
Me: *pulls hair* Listen to this: Stairway to Heaven! Stairway to Heaven!! I even have lyrics to go with it.
Spike: Tough luck. *continues smoking*
Me: >.< Grrah.

Ah well, back to the drawing board.

Going to the library later when Dad gets back. Yes! Fresh air! After being stuck at home for days! ^______^

The prospect of getting out of the house is muchly cheering. Still, I can manage to write Cowboy Bebop angst. You know the drill, read, review, cookies for all. Here you go:
Another Time, Another Place

Worship Trillian. Trillian is the best thing that happened since instant messaging. Everything under one program - AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! and IRC. Beautiful, uncluttered system toolbar. *dramatic sigh* Now off to make a new layout for Sayonara Bus to celebrate the fic.

Last night's dinner was so fucked-up. Waited for two hours for the ceremony to commence proper, because cousins (of the the snotty tai-tai variety) decided to be fashionably late. I swear, that woman is a shameless alcoholic - she brought along two bottles of whiskey and two bottles of wine. Then she went around, glass in hand, forcing drinks on everyone in the front tables, proposing toasts (and naturally drinking the most herself). She stopped by our table at least eight times and once she made herself comfortable right next to me, so close I could smell the liquor on her breath. She was telling me about her daughter (dressed in some cheap goth assemble, make-up, fake nails, all in black On a wedding.) who obviously couldn't take the Singapore education system, oh, she hates Chinese, can't really fit in, so I'll be sending her to boarding school in England. Then she takes the bottle off the lazy-susan and pours whiskey in my iced water and tells me to 'try some'. I tell her, flatly, that three-quarters of a bottle of straight whiskey is enough to put you in a coma, and one bottle is enough to kill you, according to the Reader's Digest's Complete Manual of Fitness and Well-Being. And she laughs and tells me how cute I am, it's just one watered-down shot, darling. So I got up and went to sit with my uncles and ordered Chinese tea.

*deep breaths* Right.

Anyway, I restarted my saved game in FFVIII. Piloted Balamb Garden all the way to the Cape of Good Hope. The Centra Plains are full of Jelleyes, fun to fight and all. But goddamitSquallwillyoupleaseslowdown?! Argh. He's at Lv.50 already, Selphie's only Lvl.33, with Rinoa and Quistis at Lvl.32 and Irvine and Zell are trailing behind at Lvl. 21. >.< Play fair, Squall.

SHE IS / I AM Erratic, sporadic, borderline, dramatic. Makes obscure references and inside jokes. Quotes when she feels like it, often randomly. An attraction to all things dark and dangerous. Enough sense to keep them at armslength. Full of bad poetry and a twittering romantic. A perchance to dream.

OUT OF LIVES Second edition of lapislazuli. Previously known as singing stones. Names are subject to change on a whim.

SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE Something bright and cheery for a change. Layout featuring the 'happy couples' of DNAngel. (Read the series and you'll understand how tangled they are.) Funky retro glasses time~!
